OVERVIEW
REALM is an experimental music project that unites audio-engineering with neuroscience to create collective deep listening experiences. Created in collaboration with ARIA and Grammy-award winning producer Eric J, whose credits include Flume, Odesza, St. Vincent and FKA Twigs, Matt Curtin, an ambient music artist with over 50M+ streams and Dr. Steffen A. Herff, a cognitive neuroscientist and leader of the Sydney Music, Mind, and Body Lab at the University of Sydney.
This debut REALM event at Machine Hall featured two experiences, performed live, that took leading cognitive neuroscience research and pushed it to the extreme through composition, production and cutting edge spatial mixing.
Prior to the event, the music was lab-tested on 100 international test subjects and iterated on to improve the experience. Event attendees also completed a post-event evaluation to enhance future experiences.
The REALM team is currently exploring opportunities for future events.
